A [System Review](http://www.bcsprosoft.com/services/system-review/) is a checkup for the people, processes and technologies you use to power your organization. You spent a lot of money on your car and you take it to the garage to have it serviced regularly. You also spent a considerable amount of money on your business system and the environment where it resides.  This investment also needs to be maintained to make sure that it is performing optimally and that your users are using it efficiently. There are things that change during the life of a business that may require maintenance on, or at least an examination of, your business management software. For example, has your company grown?  Do you have the same type of customers, service offering, projects or inventory items you have always had?  Has some new government regulation made your standard way of reporting or your income less effective or less “natural” straight out of the box?  These are great indicators that it might be time for a review. Perhaps nothing has changed. Maybe during your initial implementation and system configuration there were features that you ignored for the sake of expediency. Maybe there were things that you didn’t really understand during setup and now you wish you could change them. There might even be new features that didn’t exist when you went live and these features may solve an issue that you have right now. An annual System Review will help you identify these issues. Finally, ask yourself how much of your business do you manage outside of your system in a product like Excel?  Relying on third party software for your operations is a good indication that you may not be using your ERP system to its full potential and is a great reason to schedule a System Review. ## What is a System Review? It is gathering of your key ERP system users with a BCS consultant to help you evaluate the current state of how you are using the system, identify what are your pain points (bottlenecks, delays, missing information and information you have to get outside of your system) and what it would look like if you could resolve all these issues and use it more efficiently and effectively (your ideal state). While System Reviews typically involve key people on the finance side of the business, we’re able to tailor the Review depending on who stands to benefit the most. We can easily shift the focus around other business units including operations, sales and marketing. System Reviews typically take two to three hours and can be done in your office or over the web. ## Why do I need a System Review? If you’re on the accounting or finance side of the business, your day probably fills up pretty quick.  You have documents to enter, reports to generate, bills to process, approvals to obtain, timecards to collect and deadlines, deadlines, deadlines.
