Today at SuiteWorld 2013 NetSuite announced their strategic partnership with Autodesk to create Fusion 360, the world’s first cloud based engineering design platform. AutoDesk, the world leader in 3D design software for entertainment, natural resources, manufacturing, engineering, construction, and civil infrastructure. Their partnership with NetSuite enables manufacturers to run their entire businesses in the cloud for the first time.
By delivering a cloud based ERP solution to manufacturers, NetSuite now boasts the ability to manage shop floor controls, Work In Progress (WIP), planning, supply and distribution management, digital prototyping, integration with Autodesk Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), integration with SuiteCommerce and much more. Fusion 360 now allows manufacturers to handle ideas, product design, manufacturing, production, implementation and marketing from a single system.
Zach Nelson, NetSuite CEO, said that this was driven partly by emerging technologies like 3D printing that are selling directly to their customers. “Manufacturing companies have a lot of moving parts and can become a global company very quickly, making them very difficult to manage” said Nelson. “They often have very unique requirements for everything from their manufacturing processes and operations right down to how they manage shipping and their financials.” Up until now, NetSuite ERP has only been able to service light manufacturers and manufacturing companies that outsource most of their manufacturing needs. However the new addition, which will be available later on in 2013, will provide to companies with heavy manufacturing requirements or that do direct to consumer manufacturing with an integrated cloud based ERP solution.
