Sage Rebrands their U. S. Products

Some of you may have heard that Sage has decided to rebrand their US Products. Like it or not, the old, familiar MAS 90 product name has been put out to pasture, much like Nissan did with Datsun (does anyone remember Datsun?). For some of the old guard (like our company’s founder, Clark Haley), it will be difficult to break the habit of saying “MAS 90” (the new name is Sage 100 ERP), but in reality, it makes perfect sense to bring all the different product names together with common branding.

History Lesson

The Sage Group, PLC is a UK based company and is the third largest publisher of business management software in the world. Their stellar growth has been accomplished largely through acquisitions.  They purchased State of the Art (publisher of MAS 90) in 1998 and that was the beginning of a buying spree that saw them purchasing a number of major software publishers, including DacEasy, Accpac, ACT!, SalesLogix, Abra, and BEST FAS. Sage now owns dozens of business management products worldwide.  The US subsidiary, Sage Software, currently generates over 70% of the Sage Group PLC worldwide revenue.

Why Rebrand?

ACT!, Accpac, Peachtree, DacEasy, MAS 90, MAS 200, MAS 500, SalesLogix, Sage CRM, X3. Collectively these products (and several others) have over 3.5 million customers worldwide, but each product is individually branded causing serious confusion in the marketplace. If Sage had a single brand name, they could pool their marketing budgets for each product line and get much more value out of their investment in advertising.

If you are a Peachtree customer and you out grow that product, Sage is much more likely to keep you in the family if you are aware that there is an upgrade path within the Sage product line. In the new brand plan, Peachtree would be Sage 50 and MAS 90 (the next step up) would be Sage 100 ERP. Makes perfect sense!

So What Are the New Names and How will the Change Affect You?

Below is a list of the products that we represent. Click here to get a complete list of Sage Products. Though the name change doesn’t really affect you in any way, it could be a little confusing as you begin getting correspondence from Sage and from BCS ProSoft.
